Podcasts are so AWESOME! I love the fact that I can record and message/lesson/ announcement, etc. and play them for my class, classes or for the department. This is a great idea. There is so much freedom in creating podcasts. I like that I have so many options as to what I can use podcasts for. I know that I will use them in the future for my classes and hopefully my department. I love that I can create an announcement for my students, and their parents, to relay or deliver important school or class information. I can use them to deliver a lesson for the class. I can create a reading and post it on the class website that explains how to do an assignment for my students and their parents. I love the fact that I can record my lectures and post them for my students who have missed a class. I like that I can find podcasts by other teachers or speakers and use them in the classroom as part of a lesson or to added color to an activity or lecture. I could have my students create their own podcasts for presentations and students who know ahead of time that they will have to miss class, can create a podcast as their contribution to a oral presentation. There are endless possibilities for the use of podcasts in the school or classroom.
I hope that the podcasts I create can be useful in other teacher's classrooms or even possibly inter-departmental throughout the school or district. They would be useful if a teacher was unable to attend a meeting. They could get all the information from a podcast.
I just love podcasts and I hope I get to use them, but not over use them.
